“What a day for a daydream
What a day for a daydreamin’ boy
And I’m lost in a daydream …”
Remember the Lovin’ Spoonful? Hah! Probably not. They recorded “Daydream” in 1966, I was a junior in High School, on the road playing with the Bird Dogs and blissfully enjoying life just like in the song. And yesterday was another one of those days! The weather was unbelievably beautiful…low humidity, 80 degrees, no wind. Absolutely perfect. Diane and I did a walkabout in Old Town with many others also wandering about enjoying the gorgeous day. Street musicians, acrobats, magicians, and probably pickpockets were all up and down the streets performing for the crowd. What a fun day. These four guys were singing close to the docks, they were really, really good and made lots of people smile…I was reminded of the Temptations. I put a couple shots of them below.
Of course, as I wrote the paragraph just above, I paused to think about being 17 and in retrospect, it probably wasn’t all that perfect…but, perfect is a better memory so once again, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!!
